Autonomy within entanglements: Illegalised migrants, the EU border regime, and the political economy of Nouadhibou, Mauritania

This article contributes to debates about the autonomy of migration (AoM) by ethnographically detailing EU border regime's external operations in Nouadhibou, Mauritania. In showing how regime is entangled within political economy and social relations city, it offers three contributions AoM discussion. Firstly, nuances reframes interplay between illegalised migrants that can take multiple forms, some less antagonistic than others. Secondly, contextualises this situating historical trajectory which unfolds. Thirdly, highlights relevance Global South context analysis debate, much has been concerned with European contexts Europe-bound movement.
